How to connect a Telegram bot to your team

Only the team owner can connect the bot.

  1. Create a bot with official @BotFather.
  2. Add that bot to the team Telegram group.
  3. Copy the bot token into team settings.
  4. Get the connect command shown by the platform.
  5. Send that command in the correct Telegram group.
  6. Return to settings and tap Check.
  7. After a successful check, send a test message.
  8. Configure notification types.

The bot posts to the linked group. Available notifications cover calendar create, important change, and cancel. Reminders are not sent yet.

Safety​

  • do not paste the bot token into chat;
  • do not show it on screenshots;
  • if the token is exposed, revoke it in BotFather;
  • only the owner should manage the token.

If check fails​

  • make sure the bot is in the correct group;
  • send the connect command again;
  • verify the token;
  • make sure the bot is not used by another service;
  • tap Check again after fixes.
